synopsis

Arthur is a young man who lives with and cares for his sick mother, Penny。Arthur works as a clown in Gotham City。Meanwhile, Thomas, a billionaire businessman, has shown apparently keen interest in running for mayor。Arthur has been plagued by mental illness, and some of his behaviors are out of his control, which makes him the butt of jokes from time to time, and these are very inappropriate。He has no real friends and no outlet for stabilizing his negative emotions。He has been closely following the lives of two people, Murray, a TV talk show host, and Sophie, a young single woman who lives in Arthur's apartment and shows him some fleeting kindness, which leads Arthur into stand-up comedy。

Film evaluation

"Joker" is not an action movie, nor does it have a clear subjective intention and purpose, but a thought-provoking film with a character study。The film is aimed at the sick and indifferent power and ruling system, showing a heartfelt cry of pain and disgust。Director ToddPhillips dismissed and downplayed many of the comic's over-the-top designs。By saturating the picture with bright colors and creating tension on the cusp of crisis, the film exudes a taste of devastation and pungent eyes, and the streets in the film truly reflect the hustle and bustle of the environment in which the characters live。Joaquin Phoenix strives to make an impression with an overwhelming sense of pain, with the heartbreak and despair of a lonely man。Joaquin Phoenix's performance was fascinating and excellent。
